Power of a Network – We’re all working together as a Network toward the same clear goal/aim.
Systemic Problem – We believe the problem comes from the system, not the students—and changing the system is key to achieving equity.
Structured Approach – NICs give us a clear process to collaborate, test ideas, and improve them so they work in different settings.
Distinguishing Features of NICs
Our Approach
Focused Community
Teams collaborate around a clearly defined problem, using data and shared learning.
Define the Problem
Work begins with understanding root causes and context before identifying solutions.
Testing and Learning
Ideas are tested quickly, refined, and iteratively improved before scaling.
Structured and Scalable
Work is decentralized but aligned through shared tools and methods.
Our NIC is focused on helping young men of color succeed in higher education. Instead of just talking about what might help, we’re testing real solutions, measuring progress, and spreading what works.
Our Network
Our improvement teams are composed of community colleges (sending institutions)
and four-year universities (receiving institutions)
